Suggestions on how to maintain your guitar in winter from Aiersi

Post by Emma »

Winter is coming, do you know how to how to keep your guitar in the best state this winter?

Most acoustic guitars are made of wood, so in order to maintain them, we first need to understand the characteristics of the wood.

Wood has natural texture and pores, able to produce a greater resonance than any other material.
But because of texture and pores, it is easy to deform and crack when comes to the change in humidity!

The fact is the best environmental humidity for acoustic guitar is between 40-55%, which is the most comfortable humidity for human.

Higher or too lower humidity are damages to the guitar tone and even the structure!

You may wonder how the unsuitable humidity damage the guitar. Let me explain.

Tests have shown that when the humidity is between the range of 60-80%, the guitar board will bulge, the tone deteriorate significantly, and action become higher and the playability drop.

While the humidity is 15-35%, the board will sag, and the edge of the fret will be hand-cutting
If humidity is below 15% or over 80%, the guitars have chance to automatically decompose!

So what’s the solution:?
Here are advices from guitar brand Aiersi

1: use a humidity caculator to monitor the environment humidity all time.

2: Pay more attention in the rainy seasons and the heating seasons,

in the rainy seasons, please use air conditioning or dehumidifier to reduce the ambient humidity,

in winters, in order to ensure the best tone and playability of your beloved guitar, use a household humidifier, or a humidifier for guitars.

If your house uses floor heating, then you should be more cautious, otherwise the guitar will be in great danger

Note that the deformation caused by extreme temperature and humidity is not covered by the warranty!

3: "Often with her" is one of the important factors to maintain the best playability of the guitar,
It has been proven that the more a guitar is payed ,the less chance its tone or playability will change.
Reason behind it is simple:,
human is also an "air conditioner", It's good for people and guitars to be with each other often
