Musical Instrument Maintenance

Post by Anna Yu »

Storage of the violin: The violin is a delicate musical instrument, which has relatively high requirements for the storage environment. The air should neither be too dry nor too humid, nor should it be stored in direct sunlight. When not in use for a long time, the strings should be loosened to avoid the timbre of the piano being changed due to long-term tension of the strings. After practicing the piano, you should put the piano back into the piano case. When it is placed upright, the head of the piano should face up, and when it is placed flat, it cannot be placed upside down.
How to rub rosin: In order to ensure the full friction between the violin bow hair and the strings, before using the violin, wipe an appropriate amount of instrument rosin on the bow hair according to the degree of friction of the bow, rotate the bow screw to the appropriate tightness, and use the bow The hair can be repeatedly rubbed with rosin several times.
The position of the bridge: the bridge is mainly responsible for transmitting the vibration, the vibration of the strings is transmitted to the sound beam, and then transmitted to the whole piano box to resonate, so the bridge needs to be placed on the center line of the two f holes on the sound beam .
Cleaning of the piano body: It is necessary to wipe the piano body with a clean and soft cloth frequently to avoid excessive rosin and dust accumulation on the piano body, which will affect the sound quality over time. Be careful not to use chemicals such as alcohol to wipe the piano, because this will wipe off the paint and shorten the life of the piano.
The tightness of the bow hair: The bow hair needs to be tightened every time it is used. The distance between the bow hair and the bow shaft is about the thickness of a little finger. Tightness causes irreversible damage to the bow hair bow shaft.
