I am the owner of six Master Yulong Guo guitars, my most recent acquisition is a “Concert” Cedar and Ziricote model. I own Philharmonic, Granada, Cedar-Koa Concert, Spruce-Koa Concert, Cedar Chamber Concert and now the Concert” Cedar and Ziricote model. I also own four Aiersi models as well, Santos, Torres, Frederich and Flamenco Models. I can say I Love all of them. It is a happy family and I alternate guitars every day of the week.
This model has substantial improvements. it is a wooden fan brace used for the double top which gives the sound similar to my philharmonic model, Also, it has a plastic guard on the side and the bottom of my bridge. This helps no to scratch the top since it has a French polish which scratched easily.
It is a great guitar.

Without reservations, a great guitar, both in sound and workmanship.
There are moments when an instrument transcends its physical form to become something truly extraordinary. Such is my experience with this world-class classical guitar crafted by master luthier Yulong Guo. From the first note struck, it was evident that this instrument represents the pinnacle of contemporary lutherie.
What immediately distinguishes this Guo masterpiece is its astonishing volume. Having played numerous high-end classical guitars over the years, I can state with confidence that the projection of this instrument exists in a category of its own. Notes leap from the soundboard with remarkable clarity and presence, filling the room with a voice that commands attention while maintaining exquisite tonal balance.
The fullness of each note is simply breathtaking. Every string resonates with a richness and complexity that reveals new tonal colors with each playing session. This depth of sound can be attributed to Guo’s innovative double-top design, which incorporates a nomex core between two thin wooden layers. This construction creates a soundboard that is simultaneously lightweight and incredibly strong, allowing for maximum resonance and response.
The double bottom further enhances this guitar’s exceptional voice, adding a dimension of warmth and sustain that complements the brilliant clarity of the top. The bass notes possess gravitas without muddiness, while the trebles sing with crystalline purity.
The engineered fretboard deserves special mention. Harder than traditional ebony, this man-made material contributes significantly to the instrument’s remarkable sustain, allowing notes to bloom and linger with extraordinary presence. The science behind this is sound, the increased density and stability of the material transfers energy more efficiently to the soundboard, resulting in longer, more consistent note duration.
The raised fretboard design exemplifies Guo’s thoughtful approach to playability, providing effortless access to the upper register, a feature that contemporary classical repertoire increasingly demands. The smoothness of the fingerboard under the fingers creates an almost supernatural playing experience, with a level of responsiveness that can only be described as intimate.
Beyond its technical merits, this guitar embodies the artisanal excellence that has established Yulong Guo as one of today’s preeminent luthiers. Every detail, from the precision of the fretwork to the flawless finish, speaks to a profound commitment to craftsmanship. This is not merely an instrument but a work of art that happens to produce sublime music.
In a world where the term “mastercraft” is often applied too liberally, Yulong Guo’s work reminds us of its true meaning. This guitar represents the harmonious marriage of traditional wisdom and innovative design, resulting in an instrument that inspires and elevates the musician’s art. For the serious classical guitarist seeking an instrument of exceptional quality and character, Guo’s creations deserve consideration at the very highest level.
